Birla Planetarium : "The virtual space tour "




B. M. Birla Planetarium is a large planetarium in Chennai providing a virtual tour of the night sky and holding cosmic shows on a specially perforated hemispherical Aluminium inner dome. It is located at Kotturpuram in the Periyar Science and Technology Centre campus. Built in 1988 in the memory of the great industrialist and visionary of India B. M. Birla, it is the most modern planetarium in India.


LOCATION :





The planetarium is located inside The Periyar science and technology centre campus.
It welcomes with all its "green grassy patch land" and "gigantic trees", that you would wonder whether you are in chennai.

MORE OVER :



For every eclipse the management would arrange for the public to view it through a telescope fitted with solar filter .







A very good and best place for school excursion and educational tour .






They use a 360- degree projector which covers the whole white Aluminium dome.







If you think that you'll have a short-while in the Planetarium, then you can also visit the near by Guindy national park and snake park - Tamil Nadu forest department.

In English : 10.45 a.m, 1.15 p.m and 3.45 p.m,

In Tamil : 12 noon & 2.30 p.m.
